The Dive is a group in Arizona dedicated to development of talented writers and creative minds. We ask you to join us in in our journey by participating in our writing activities and being involved in our discussions.
We had our first official meeting this last Tuesday. As we salivated over homemade red velvet cupcakes next to the twinkling lights of a christmas tree, we each expressed what writing we've done in the past and what we would love to experience by being apart of a writing group. Then promptly, we started the following writing activity and it we loved it so much we named our group after it. Feel free to try this at home:
Diving In
Diving is a form of free writing. The word or phrase with which you begin is your jumping-off point. Once you write it, let it take you anywhere it wants to. Dive into writing by choosing anyone of the following words that have duplicate meanings: bear, cleave, lie, sewer, tear, or desert. Start by copying the word, and quickly without stopping for any reason, continue writing until you reach the end of the page. Making sense is unimportant. After you finish, read the result and continue from there. You may have a masterpiece!!!
After we completed this activity, we said farewell with warm snuggly hugs and words of love and encouragement. We can't wait for what awaits next Tuesday when we greet each others smiling faces, open hearts, and creative minds.
